Fighting games are pretty popular. It doesn’t matter if you are playing as a fighter, super hero, mutant turtle, cartoon character, or a robot. Some of the most compelling games allow you to not only destroy your opponent but cause havoc with the environment as well. Modus Games has released Override : Mech City Brawl, which puts you in the seat of a giant mech fighting off hordes of alien invaders.
You are a mercenary that has been recruited to a special task force that is trying to repel alien invaders. You decide to give up your life as a merc to join the cause – for a price of course. It is up to you to keep the planet safe and help your team take out any enemies that come along.
Battling in your mech can be personalized to pretty much any style. You move fairly easily with the control sticks and use the bumpers and triggers to fight. This allows you to control each arm and leg individually. There are even charged attacks when you hold the button for longer. You can win a fight by just using your left leg if that is the way you want to fight. A variety of items appear in the arenas so you can even fight with a weapon if you are so inclined.
The graphics are colorful and distinct. They look like they could easily be transferred to a cartoon series. Arenas are filled with large buildings that look stunning while standing but have a better aesthetic when demolished. The mechs and alien designs are fairly varied, which keeps gameplay fresh. There is an upbeat soundtrack that will keep you company in your battles. There are times when you are battling that it seems like your moves are choreographed perfectly to the music.
Override : Mech City Brawl is available now on XB1 and Steam. If you are looking for a fun fighting game that also allows you to destroy cities on your way to victory – look no further. This is a game that will let you and your friends battle large bots and destroy cities while saving the planet.
